FED: Anzac celebrates national characteristics, Smith
Foreign Minister STEPHEN SMITH has address the crowd at the Anzac Day dawn service
in Gallipoli .. saying the Turkish cove represents a defining moment in Australian history.
Thousands of Australians and New Zealanders descended on Anzac Cove to attend the dawn
service .. held at the birthplace of the Anzac legend 94 years ago.
More than eight thousand Australians died during the disastrous eight-month Gallipoli campaign.
Mr SMITH has told the crowd .. through Anzac Day Australians not only remember lives
lost in war .. but celebrate our national characteristics of a fair go .. a sense of humour
.. and of virtue.
