Fed: Smith warns Mugabe resorting to intimidation
Foreign Minister STEPHEN SMITH has warned Zimbabwe's veteran leader ROBERT MUGABE could
resort to intimidation to steal a run-off election for president.
Zimbabwe's opposition MDC party says it's won the parliamentary and presidential polls
held last weekend.
But the full results are still not out .. and the ruling ZANU-PF party says MUGABE
will stand and defeat MDC leader MORGAN TSVANGIRAI in a run-off presidential election.
Mr SMITH's told ABC TV he's becoming increasingly concerned old tactics like intimidation
may arise in the second round of voting.
He says Australia's willing to provide development assistance for Zimbabwe and its
poverty-stricken people .. once the MUGABE government is gone.
