Jamii Telecom selects ZTE to launch FTTH connections.(KENYA)

Kenya-based broadband service provider Jamii Telecom Ltd. (JTL) has entered into a $14.3 million contract with China-based telecom gear manufacturer ZTE for lining 100,000 households with its optical fiber network. This has made JTL the first Kenyan Internet service provider to have linked its residential customers with fiber technology.

The Business Daily reports that the first phase of FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) network would take place in Nairobi. This two-year project is eventually likely to expand FTTH services to Nakuru, Kisumu, Mombasa, Eldoret, and Nyeri.
