Qld: Censure motion against Hamill today

Queensland Treasurer DAVID HAMILL today faces a censure motion in State Parliament for his
part in awarding the state's first internet gaming licence to Gocorp, a company linked to
three Labor Party figures.

The motion is expected to be either moved or supported by independent PETER WELLINGTON.

The Opposition is expected to attempt to have Mr HAMILL, who has stood aside as
treasurer, and backbencher BILL D'ARCY excluded from the vote.

But Premier PETER BEATTIE has said both are entitled to vote on the motion.

Parliament resumes today for the first time since the so-called Net Bet scandal broke.

The government will suspend parliamentary rules to push through legislation to prevent Mr
D'ARCY, former MP DON LIVINGSTONE, Ipswich City Councillor PAUL PISASALE and their families
from profiting from their shares in Gocorp.

The Labor caucus yesterday accepted that Mr D'ARCY should be excluded from voting on the
legislation.

Mr D'ARCY is also today expected to formally stand aside as Deputy Speaker during a
statement to the parliament.
