Vic: Man caught digging grave for body, court told.
The Supreme Court's been told that a Melbourne man accused of murder was caught by
a patrolling police officer digging a grave for his female victim.
GABRIEL OMAR CHANG has pleaded not guilty to the murder of 27-year-old DIANNE LEIGH
PSAILA at his home in Melton on November the 8th, 1999.
Crown prosecutor GEOFF HORGAN has told the jury that CHANG placed the body of Ms PSAILA
in the boot of her own car and drove to a spot near Lorne in the state's south east.
The court's heard the 35-year-old was caught lying down in the undergrowth by a police
officer who decided to check the car he saw parked on a track.
Mr HORGAN says that when approached by the officer, CHANG, wearing a blond wig, pretended
he had been kidnapped and dumped by drug dealers.
The jury's been told he then hit the officer with a fire extinguisher and fled, but
was caught the following day by police.
The trial continues.
